The Physical Therapist I Per Diem evaluates and treats patients to promote recovery from, and positive adaptations to, physical deficits caused by injury or illness in the Pediatric Rehab Therapies department at Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach. He/she develops, implements, and oversees a patient's individualized therapy plan, aiming to facilitate the highest levels of physical independence and recovery. The Physical Therapist I PD seeks input from the patient and family to ensure that the therapy plan directly addresses patient concerns regarding improving movement and managing pain.
This position is for weekend and holiday coverage. Requires minimum two (2) weekend shifts in a four (4) week schedule, one (1) minor holiday shift and one (1) major holiday shift per year (major = Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) (minor = Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day).
A California Physical Therapy license is required.
A Master's degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent advanced degree from an acceptable Physical Therapy program is required.
A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is required.
Must have 1+ years of prior work experience in clinical physical therapy. Prior work experience or strong education experience in a related field may be considered.
Level II clinical affiliation in a pediatric setting is recommended.
American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) membership and California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) membership is recommended.
