Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center is a Joint Commission approved and state licensed facility for 88 beds, which includes pediatric units, adolescent girls, adolescent boys, and MISA (Mental Illness Substance Abuse) unit. We are committed to providing youth with compassionate treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. Lincoln Prairie provides treatment to children and adolescents (ages 3-17) that present with a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral disorders. Lincoln Prairie offers an array of outpatient programs. We provide educational programs, enhanced Occupational Therapy services, Recreational Therapy, Art and Music Therapy, while utilizing a holistic treatment approach.
We are seeking aÂ Substitute Special Education Teacher to support Lincoln Prairieâ€™s mission. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing students with educational and behavioral programs that will enable them to reach their fullest educational potential, while rebuilding their self-esteem.Â
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Implement lessons and instructional materials to meet each studentâ€™s individual needs.
Correlates learning activities with instructional objectives and with the maturity and academic level of each student.
Relates new content to material presented previously and to studentâ€™s prior knowledge.
Specifies lesson purpose, learning objectives and activities to follow.
Asks questions that students can successfully answer and requires students to recall, explain, compare, contrast and evaluate information.
Gives clear assignments that allow students to apply what they have learned and that students can complete with a high degree of success.
Provides guided practice, circulating to check studentâ€™s progress and provide assistance.
Provides feedback to students on class assignments and homework.
Completes education aftercare plan and forwards to patientâ€™s home school district as appropriate.
Sets up/maintains progress reports and education files for each student.
Reviews grades, progress reports, attendance records, discipline referrals, social history, psychological evaluations, hospitalization discharge summaries, etc.
Communicates effectively with parents/guardians, probation/parole officers, county health workers, etc. to enhance the learning process by responding to and/or initiating contacts in a timely, professional and constructive manner.
Continues the Individualized Educational Program (I.E.P.) during hospitalization and documents present performance levels.
