River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Certified Medical Records Coder to provide for the efficient functioning of the daily activities of the Medical Records Department.Â Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Â Â
Statistics: Codes and/or abstracts data from medical records to maintain a computerized Diagnostic Index, maintains a Physicians Index of statistical information pertaining to individual physicians, reports significant findings to Department Director, assures that Data Processing receives provisional and discharge diagnosis daily.
Assembly of Medical Records: demonstrates organizational skills to assemble patientâ€™s medical record, ensures proper receipt and proper processing of all medical records, arranges chart in discharge order within one working day of discharge, files all patient information in chart appropriately, files all miscellaneous papers in appropriate records on a daily basis, review medical record documentation to ensure chart organization and uniformity; participate in medical record documentation auditing to monitor physician compliance with regulatory requirements.
Release of Information: Process all Medicaid and inpatient insurance requests received by the Utilization Review Department, reviews and processes all requests received for completeness, prepares all photocopies of Medicaid charts and forwards to the Utilization Review Department for completion, prepares all other requests and processes according to policy, documents on requests date processed, information released and initials;
Communication: Demonstrates skill in both verbal and written communication; interpersonal relationships with patients, families, peers and medical / professional staff a must, responds to phone calls accordingly, knowledgeable of the Quality Assurance plan and indicators of the department, assists clinical staff in charting as necessary.
