The Staff Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate presentation of assigned financial accounts within the general ledger and ensures appropriate transactions are posted to assigned accounts in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) and Regulatory Guidelines in the General Accounting department at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. This position also prepares balancing analysis schedules to support all general ledger summary amounts. Monthly research and identifications of variances or other identified issues required in order to present accurate information to Senior Leadership for decision making. Job specific duty assignments are more straight forward/less complex at a staff level.
Strong technical skills and a solid grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Word, Excel and Outlook.
10 Key by touch and keyboarding skills are also required.
Prior PeopleSoft system general ledger experience is preferred.
Previous hospital/healthcare experience is also preferred.
Strong Excel skills.
Strong communications skills.
Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
Some work experience is preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration (or commensurate experience) is preferred with a high GPA.
