Medical Staff Coordinator
This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the in-house medical staff organization. This includes new appointments, reappointments, maintaining current credentials files, bylaws, rules and regulations and credentials manual and works with bylaws committee regarding amendments as necessary. Plans agendas and prepares for meetings, records and transcribes minutes of all departments, MEC and various other committees. Assists with the FPPE / OPPE process.
Essential Job Duties:
Conduct new applicants through the credentialing process of the department to which they have applied in a timely manner consistent with the MS Bylaws, R&Rs and Credentials Manual.
Implements and coordinates procedures for reappointment of physicians and AHP's.
Notifies new appointees and reappointees of such appointments and privileges as granted by the Board of Governors.
Notifies appropriate departments of new appointments and privileges.
Works with Chief of Staff in preparing new committee appointments.
Maintain and follow through of preceptorship of provisional medical staff members.
Maintains current master copy of the Medical Staff Bylaws, R&Rs, and Credentials Manual and has a working knowledge of such.
Serves as a resource to the Medical Staff, Senior Team, and Associates with regard to interpretation of and compliance with the Bylaws, R&Rs, and Credentials Manual.
Prepares Board of Governors agenda monthly including a summary of activities as reviewed by the MEC and indicative of pertinent recommendations directed to the Board.
Attends MEC, Departmental, Credentials, Bylaws Committee meetings and other special committees/Ad Hoc meetings as necessary. Prepares agendas and assures that necessary materials are available. Takes and prepares minutes and obtains appropriate signatures.
Tracks and maintains current copies of licensures and liability insurance certificates and Board Certification.
Coordinates with Administration and Quality Management on setting up and preparing for TJC survey.
Responsible for various secretarial duties requested by the medical staff, department and committee chairmen and medical staff officers.
