The ED Financial Counselor is proficient in all aspects of health insurance coverage, as well as the emergency room registration and admitting processes. The ED Financial Counselor is responsible for the appropriate collection of patientâ��s responsibilities. Effectively performs financial screening and credit assessment functions to assist patients in paying for hospital services rendered. The Financial Counselor uses sound business judgment in establishing financial arrangements and is resourceful in exploring all avenues for payment resources. Responsibilities also include verification of insurance coverage, obtaining benefits information, as well as any necessary authorizations. They must project a professional image of the Hospital.
High School diploma or equivalent
Two years Business Office/Registration experience
Good computer and typing skills
Medical Terminology preferred
Knowledgeable of managed care and third party payer preferred
