Position Information The Gainesville, FL VA Medical Center is seeking a proven leader to join our team as the Chief of Surgical Services. The Physician Service within the Surgical Service provides supervisory and programmatic oversight for the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (VHS); including General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Thoracic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery. The Surgical Service Chief functions as the primary advisor to the Chief of Staff and System Director on all North Florida/South Georgia VHS surgical programs. The Surgical Service Chief is expected to have the skill set to interact with the Service's staff, other Service Chiefs, Chief Medical Officers, and the System's Executive Leadership Team to promote excellence in an academic environment. The System also supports important teaching and state of the art research programs through its affiliation with the University of Florida Health Science Center and other colleges and universities.
