Inpatient Coder III Medical Records Full Time Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for timely review of patient records in order to identify an appropriate selection of ICD-10-CM/CPT codes that will accurately reflect the reason for admission, extent of care received and level of severity of illness. Responsible for insuring that all date elements required for federal and state reporting are collected and included in the patient�s demographic record. Accounts for each inpatient and outpatient records in order that all are coded. Enters coded data into computer to facilitate the billing process.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

• Associate Degree with training in Coding preferred

• RHIA, RHIT or CCS preferred or completion of ICD-10 coding program

• 2-3 years coding experience preferred

• Previous experience as a Coder in a hospital setting

• Detail-oriented. Analytical. Logical

• Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office

• Ability to read medical records and physician�s handwriting

• Able to sit at the computer for an extended period of time

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
