The Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island in North Smithfield, Rhode Island is a joint venture between Kindred Healthcare and Landmark Medical Center. Many of the patients we serve have experienced stroke, brain and spinal-cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries and other conditions requiring inpatient rehabilitative services. Our goal is to help patients achieve their highest level of recovery with a goal of returning home as soon as able.
Serves as primary technical support for the Health Information Department including repsonsibility for physician credentialing and general administrative support for the hospital. This may entail helping out in various departments with their administrative tasks as well as helping prepare board reports and general reporting.
Performs basic medical record functions such as filing, release of Information, coordination of transcription, assembly of discharged records and flagging for physician deficiencies.
Assists Manager with keeping physicians notified of deficiencies and time requirements for completion and assists physicians in the completion process.
Assists in processing requests for medical record copies.
Assists nursing staff in keeping records neat and orderly during the patient's hospitalization.
Answers phone and assists other departments with health information issues.
Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly filing system and work area.
Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient information while performing health information duties.
Performs other related duties and activities as directed and assigned by the Health Information Coder and leadership team.
Participates in the overall quality assessment and improvement activities.
Participates in relevant training programs.
Assists in preparing records for committee functions.
Ensure supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.
Provides clerical support and completes special projects for the Medical Director, Committee Chairs and Medical Staff.
Maintains and secures files for Medical Staff Credentials.
Has lead responsibility for acquisitions of all information required in the process of credentialing an applicant physician as needed.
Makes sure a physician's credential file is complete prior to presentation to the Credentials Committee or Medical Staff Executive Committee as needed

High School diploma or GED.
Experience as technical office support in a healthcare environment.
Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
Ability to deal tactfully with, patients, physicians, visitors and the general public.
Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
