this position is located in the Department of Surgery, Orthopedic Service within the Central Ohio VA Healthcare System, Columbus, Ohio and supports the to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and surgery as well as teaching and resident supervision within the Orthopedic Surgery Section. The selectee will perform surgical procedures, with required expertise in in all areas of Orthopedics including: Arthritis disorders, degenerative arthritis of shoulder and knee to include but not limited to the following duties: Delivering the best possible orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. Participating in and/or managing all aspects of a general orthopedic program to include clinical, administrative, and academic components. Participating in and/or managing a broad range of orthopedic surgery practice. This encompasses all areas of general orthopedic and musculoskeletal surgery including major joint reconstructive services. Performing surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as orthopedic consultation for inpatients and outpatients. Maintaining good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. Teaching colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, other ancillary staff. Participating in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: May be authorized for highly qualified candidates.
