Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist
St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center, the flagship hub of Dignity Health, is recruiting a sub-specialty trained and Board Certified or Board Eligible Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to join our growing cardiovascular division. The ideal candidate will be looking to help build a division and is looking to join an employed academic group model.
Our team provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care (single clinic site on the medical center campus) for a wide array of patients with heart failure, various cardiomyopathies, pulmonary hypertension and RV dysfunction, cardiogenic shock, durable LVADs, and heart transplant. AHFTx cardiologists are responsible for providing inpatient (with call coverage) and outpatient care and should be experienced with these patient populations and the breadth of temporary MCS used for cardiogenic shock including VA-ECMO, Impella CP/RP/5.5, Tandem Heart, Protek-Duo, and IABP. Our team includes a full support staff including multiple nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, medical assistants, and other ancillary staff support.
AHFTx cardiologists will have the opportunity, if desired, to perform a variety of procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab located on campus including right heart catheterizations with exercise and pharmacologic challenges, LVAD hemodynamic RAMP studies, endomyocardial biopsies, pulmonary artery pressure monitor implants, and MCS cannulations and implantations.
Through our affiliation with Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix, candidates will join our faculty and be integrally involved in our general cardiology fellowship. As clinical faculty they will oversee the training of future fellows, as well as medical students and residents at our academic health center. Requirements:
- MD or DO Degree
- Cardiovascular Diseases BE/BC
- Completed an ABIM Accredited Advanced Heart Failure Fellowship and is BE/BC
- Experienced with temporary mechanical circulatory support devices and VA-ECMO
- Experienced in the peri- and post-op management of durable VAD and heart transplant patients
- Academic experience in teaching residents and/or cardiology fellows preferred
- Shares in an entrepreneurial vision to help develop a growing program
- Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals
- Must obtain Arizona State medical licensure before starting in the position
